Please write and draw your childhood experiences of the
rainy season.
Instructions: This activity is for sharing your childhood
memories and joy of the rainy season.
You can write your experience
based on suggested points as given below; Kind of sounds you remember – sound
of rain, rain falling on roof, rain and wind, thundering, sound of birds, of
waterfalls, etc.
The smell of rainy season that you remember- of vegetation, of wet soil, dampness, of special food during the season, clothing at that time, etc. Food during the rainy season, songs of the season. Festivals and crops that you remember? Any disease that people thought could affect them during the rainy season? Problems or difficulties faced due to heavy rains. Anything else you like to share?

During rainy season black clouds were sailing across the sky. Sometimes cool breeze was blowing. It was raining most of the time with thunder and lightening. The rain drops were making various sounds which I enjoyed a lot. The rain was falling everywhere including our house roof, garden, road, field and all. Birds' criping sound from tree branches was very pleasant. Sometimes due to heavy rain water was flowing on road and I used to float paper boats with my friends on that flowing water . While going to school I was always taking umbrella, rain-dress with me. Mother Earth looks like a beautiful bride wearing green saree. Well, river, pond everything filled with water and people had abudance of water during rainy days. Our garden plants were filled with various colourful flowers.
During rainy days the smell of wet soil I loved most. We were celebrating many festivals in this season among them our "Raja" festival is very popular and famous .
In this season farmers were going to their fields to plough for growing the crops like paddy, urad, beans, green vegetables etc too.
We were generally loving to eat hot food, pakoda, tea etc. We were also facing some difficulties during this season. People were generally affected by cold in this season. Sometimes due to heavy rain the rivers were overflowing and people were affected by flood. Sometimes people also died by thunder stroke. We faced difficulty to go out.
Still it's a good season. During this day our Earth looks so beautiful and that's why Rainy Season is also called as "Queen Of The Seasons".

No matter what the weather may be, a rainy day relaxes and soothes our soul. There is no age limit to enjoy rainy days people of almost every age enjoy it equally. Thus, rainy days are very important for a number of reasons.

Rainy days are indeed very beautiful. These nice times are present in my memory fresh till now. Suppose I am now looking outside to hear the pitter patter sound or guessing it to be rain after smelling the bacterial odour of soil.Feelings are becoming more fresh when I can recall the wetness of rain water cycling or playing football with bare body. The fishing experience with fishing stick is incredible too.
It was an incident of my childhood. Then we were at Sambalpur. Our rented house was in Gujarati Colony there. Near to our house we had a small canal/naala attached to small paddy fields slowly converting towards Urbanization.
In one rainy day when there was slightly raining, together with few friends I went near to that Canal.I could see a good numbers of peoples out there standing scattered with drowning there legs some inches. They were maintaining about a distance of 2 metres and more with each holding one long stick upward both hands in a beating posture without shaking their bodies.
I could guess nothing and amazed why they were in that position. That was just like a very unique puzzle whose answer was coming followed by few seconds.
At once a big scaled fish came swimming on through field water and the boys started striking it with their sticks.It was like a Lucky Draw in any Festival Offer.That person whose stick could stroke the fish was the owner of that dead/ half dead fish.
It was wonderful. A lot of such good and bad memories are there. I can not forget those childhood time.Like golden era it will remain fresh forever but, alas I regret that moment can't come back again ever.

ReplyDeleteBirds creeping sounds of trees branches has very pleasant. Some due to heavy rain water was flowing on road and I used floats paper boat. While going to school. I was always taking rain dress with earth.
It refreshes our past memory . It fills everyone with joy by making the climate cool and pleasant.

Heavy rains destroy crops and cause floods. Children enjoy this season to the utmost, they take shower, float paper boats and dive in the water of rain. All water bodies often get full of water, the rivers that dry get plenty of water. All plants and trees become green and greenery makes the environment more beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIn India there is a theme of six seasons in each year. Rainy season is one of them. It comes after summer. First rain of rainy season refreshes us giving a pleasant cool environment. The most beautiful thing in our childhood is rainbow after rainfall. Some of us enjoy rainy season by floating paper boats during rain fall.

ReplyDeleteI have to go 5 kms for my school and we pray for a rain while returning home. It was a muddy road and the tracks of tractors were flowing like rivers in both sides. Walking in the leg dip mud and these muddy rivers were very much intersting. I can still feel the dance staged on muddy earth and lightings, sounds, and shower from the heavenly roof.
I enjoyed rain in childhood.When the rain falls on the ground,the smell is amazing,and I love the smell.

ReplyDeleteMemory of rainy day during my childhood. It my most favorite season and I enjoyed those days. When it starts raining me and my siblings ran to the roof and having bath in open place, also my mother prepared fresh and cooked pokodàs at home that was Delicious.

ReplyDeleteOn rainy days the sky remains covered with clouds and rain falls in showers. Sone showers fall heavily, some fall lightly and others come in drizzles. Rivers and ponds become full of water. Streets with their flow of muddy water look like rivers in flood. Children sails paper boats in that. When a shower comes the rain drops beats the roofs of the house and produce tramping sound of the horses. Cold waves of wind blows, lightning flashes up and thunder roars aloud. We can't forget those days of innocent pleasure in our life.

So this season is the friend of The farmers. The clouds covers The Sky in the season. This season cleans our environment from pollution.

The green crop field, beautiful rainbow, dancing of peacock, pitter patter sounds of the raindrops, floating of paper boats are amazing. The observation of the world famous car festival is a beautiful experience. The happiness of the birds are seen in their twittering and the mother earth seems beautiful with greenery everywhere.

ReplyDeleteToday's incessant rain,smell of petrichor, the sound of wind, the roar of thunder brought back many childhood memories of a rainy day. I started to think of getting soaked and dancing in the rain, making paper boats to float them in water, playing in poodles of water and splash the dirty muddy water. Scattering droplets of water falling from the sky bring moments of joy. Sometimes just sitting by window, enjoying the rain sound, the smell, the breeze and the feel was enough. No rainy day memories are complete without mentioning garam garam pakodas and snacks. This season comes with blessings for the farmers to grow his crops.

ReplyDelete" RAIN RAIN GO AWAY ,LITTLE BHASA WANTS TO PLAY",- Yes friends apart from usual showers of rainy season I remember the thunder storm of Summer season. As we are in the coastal part we usually experience the KAL BAISHAKHI nost of the afternoon. After the heat of the scorching sun ,the shower of the afternoon were real boon. At that moment I wanted to sleep for few minutes, but alas! my mother used to work me up for tuition with a glass if watermelon juice, or ripe mangoes. Those moments were really painful- to get up in the rain and get,set for the tuition. Still those memories were alive in mind as we enjoyed a lot . As our home is a old home, it has a angan inside our house, wherever literally feel all the seasons of a year. During rainy we used to sail paper boat in the rain water in angan itself.
Yes how can I forget the khichri, egg curry for rainy lunch and hot pakoras as rainy afternoon snacks!!!
Also water logging is a big problem till today during rainy season.
Now my heart says, " RAIN, RAIN COME AGAIN, GROWN UP BHASA WANTS TO PLAY"

Rainy season refreshes our mind and memory. After the scorching summer, it soothes the soul and environment. It brings happiness in the farmers community in particular and all humanity in general.

Memories are meant to kept. Rainy season is a season of memory. There is a lot to be kept as memories. Paper boats , coming from school with wet uniforms. The memories were always evergreen. The are irreplaceable memories which lit up my childhood.
ReplyDeleteI am Sankar Pujahari going to describe about experience about rainy season during my childhood days. We pupil were going to school, at that time the rain came with storm, lightening, sound of thunder. There was no umbrella. So we all wet in that situation. My friend Rajib was too afraid of the sound of heavy rain as well as the sound of thundering and lightening. All creature were silent having fear but we children were happy enough. Teachers were worried about us. They scolded us by looking our bare body. The school roof was taken away by heavy rain and air. Our clas s room was filled in water where we played each other. Then school closed and we came back. On the road we saw a tree full of JAMUN. We ate JAMUN by riding on that tree. I fell down from that tree and my left hand had broken. Now you can see that symble of wound on my left hand. During this rainy period every where mud. We children were playing in that mud. We were jumping in the pond. There was a smell of soil. Kadamba flower was our football of every child. We were listening the sound of farmers ploughing and singing song. In our village car festival was too pleasure having small JAMUN and a bamboo pipe(PINGNALI) acting as firegun. Girls r fond of balloons(gubara). Raja was also a festival of girls to swing. We all were playing with paper boats during rain. In odia poem Barasakala ate mangalakari, palai parajanku barasi bari. Really rainy season is the friend of farmer as well as the children. Earth wears a green saree having pleasant rain falling everywhere. But excess rainfall may creat flood we had seen in the year 1982(Flood of Mahanadi). Jala bihune sarbanasa, Jala bahule sarbanasa. For the time being I want to go back to the childhood days.

ReplyDeleteमुझे बचपन से वर्षा ऋतु बहुत पसंद है इस ऋतु में हम बारिश को बहुत एंजॉय करते थे अपने दोस्तों के साथ हम लोग खूब खेलते थे बारिश में कागज का नावों बनाना बारिश में भीगना बहुत करते थे बारिश में गीली मिट्टी की खुशबू और दोस्तों के साथ मिलकर वर्षा जल में भीगना अच्छा लगता था वर्षा ऋतु में चारों और एक प्रकार की हरियाली छा जाती थी उसे देख कर ह्रदय अभिभूत हो जाता था इस प्रकार वर्षा ऋतु में बीमार भी बहुत पड़ते थे वर्षा ऋतु में पालन करने वाले पर्व मन को सुहावने लगते थे वर्षा ऋतु में एक प्रकार भय का भी संचार होता था जो बादल गरजते थे बिजली कड़कती थी तो ऐसा लगता था मानो हमारे ऊपर ही बिजली गिर जाएगी तो बिजली गिरने का भय बहुत ज्यादा था हम गरीबों को बहुत दुख में अपना दिन काटते हुए देखा है उनके गीले कच्चे मिट्टी के घर बह जाते थे पानी में यह भी देखा है गरीबों की तकलीफ को दुख को करीब से महसूस किया है ।

Getting soaked in the rain, running along the edges of the slushy paddy fields, eating hot pakoras sold on the roadside, and making paperboats out of the school notes! I played and danced with my friends really that day was very beautiful,I enjoyed a lot.due to heavy rainfall,the rain water from our roof was flowing on road and I used to float paper boats with my brother and friends. I feared the thundering sound. When suddenly rain started my father took umbrella for me to school.In rainy season the earth looked greeny. I liked to eat dried rice with coconut. Actually childhood in rainy days was memorable.

ReplyDeleteI am very happy to explain my childhood rainyday.As the presence of rainy season I became very excited to play with the raindrops of thunder. The earth 's beauty with green grass,colourful flowers and different vegetables looked very amazing. The clouds over the sky shown as the sailing boats in the river.I also used to sail the paper boat s in the lane water. The farmers ' happiness was not counted with the presence of rain to work in the fields.Most of my excitement was to sea the VIBGYOR(Rainbow) in the sky .But one thing made unhappy that were thunder deases like cold,cough and fever among the people. Using dirty water our people also died in cholera and diarrhoea which was very sorrowful. Rather the rainy season was the best of all. I liked rain so much. -Anita Nayak

ReplyDeleteବର୍ଷା ନ ଥିଲେ ଜୀବ ଜଗତ ସୃଷ୍ଟି ହୋଇ ନ ଥାନ୍ତା । ଏଣୁ ବର୍ଷା ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ମଙ୍ଗଳକାରୀ । ପିଲା ଦିନ ବର୍ଷା ଋତୁର ଅନୁଭୂତି ବର୍ଣ୍ଣନା କରିବାର କଥା ମନକୁ ଆସିଲେ ମନ ଉଲ୍ଲସିତ ହୋଇଉଠେ । ପିଲାଦିନ ଗାଁର ଦୃଶ୍ୟ ଏବେ ଆଉ ନାହିଁ ।
ଗାଁ କଚ୍ଚା ରାସ୍ତା ପାଣି ଧାରରେ ଛୋଟ ଛୋଟ ମାଛ ଓ ବେଙ୍ଗଫୁଲା ଧରିବାର , କାଗଜ ଡଙ୍ଗା ଭସେଇ ବାର କେତେ ମଜା । ବେଙ୍ଗ ଓ ଝୀଙ୍କାରିର ଶବ୍ଦ, ଲମ୍ବା ଗଛ ମାନଙ୍କରେ ବଗ ବଗୁଲୀ ମାନଙ୍କର ରାବ ଶୁଣିଲେ ଆନନ୍ଦ ଲାଗୁଥିଲା । ଛତା ଧରିଥିଲେ ମଧ୍ୟ ବର୍ଷାରେ ଭିଜିବାକୁ ମନ ଉଛନ୍ନ ହେଉଥିଲା । ପ୍ରବଳ ବର୍ଷାରେ ନଦୀ ବଢି ଆସିଲେ, ସାଙ୍ଗସାଥି ମିଶି ଆମେ ଦେଖିବାକୁ ଯାଉଥିଲୁ ମାତ୍ର ଦୁଃଖର କଥା ଗରିବ ଲୋକଙ୍କର ଚାଳଘର ଭାଙ୍ଗି ଭାସିଯାଉ ଥିଲା ବେଳେ ସେମାନେ କାନ୍ଦୁଥିଲେ ।
ବର୍ଷାଦିନେ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପ୍ରକାର ଛତୁ, କଣ୍ଟେଇ କୋଳି, ନର କୋଳି ତୋଳିବା ଓ ଖାଇବାର ମଜା ନିଆରା ମାତ୍ର ବର୍ଷାରେ ଭିଜି ସର୍ଦ୍ଦି ଜ୍ଵର ଭୋଗିବାକୁ ପଡୁଥିଲା । ପର୍ବପର୍ବାଣି ରେ ମା, ଖୁଡି, ଜେଜେମା ଢ଼ିଙ୍କିରେ ଚାଉଳ ଚୁନା ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରି ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପ୍ରକାର ସୁଆଦିଆ ପିଠା ଗଢ଼ି ଖାଇବାକୁ ଦେଉଥିଲେ। ଏହିଭଳି ଅନେକ କଥା, ଏଣୁ ପିଲା ବେଳର ବର୍ଷା ଦିନ ମୋ ପାଇଁ ଅଭୁଲା ସ୍ମୃତି ହୋଇ ରହିଛି ।

I still remember the joy of drenching through the heavy rain without caring for anything.
Now I feel rain is nothing but the Divine Grace pouring down on Man who aspires to progress.
It was very pleasant. Many vegetables, fruits and flowers were available in rainy season.

ReplyDeleteHi everyone, I'm Prativa Tripathy and According to me, Rainy Season was so magical for me when I used to be a child starting from those paper boats to the first smell of the soil when the tiny thundery droplets of water first kissed the long dried soil. It was such a treat to me from those mom made pakodas to the long gossips in the balcony with my parents I surely miss my days. Not only in my life but the entire universe is blessed to have Rain! The water crises comes to an end making Earth a place of heaven.

ReplyDeleteI am Jharana Rani Pradhan ,during my childhood days rainy season is very good option for enjoy with various paper boats 0&seeing rainbow .But often I am frightened of heavy rainfall as the super cyclone 1999 destroyed much more property of us.so l thoght that if flood or cyclone would be happened .
ReplyDeleteAnother thing that as we were in koraput,there rainfall had continued on and on. Clothes could not dried easily so I had to wear half dried clothes sometimes .But that was joyful because what were those days!

ReplyDeleteRainy season , I felt like wet swampy land ,raja , and also Rathyatra , also celebrated in this season. I like rain , it brings freshness to the earth , but sometimes it floods , the drain comes out in towns , that smells very bad , like sting. sometimes houses were drowned due to this , but in these season , commom cold , and sacabies occurs. Mosquito breeds these days. So , there are high chances of dengue , malaria . We need to be care full for these.
ReplyDeleteRain is welcomed by every living being. When I was a child, I was just fascinated by the rain. It is a pleasure to play in a little drizzle. The tappering sound of rain drops on the thatched roof and the climber plants on the roof still rings in my ears, though it is a distant past. The pleasure of getting wet in the rain while returning from school is ecstasing. To sail paper boats on running water is amazing. To collect hailstone during a hailstorm is unforgettable experience. The cool weather conditions, the joyful activities of birds, little animals, farmers still flashes before my eyes.

Few of them are floating paper boat on rain water stream, jumping over puddles. But the most interesting memory what I am recalling right now is playing football with friends in rain. At that we were not scared about cold and fever. Fighting with parents to take umbrella outside. So many memories like this....
ReplyDeleteChildhood is the best period of our whole life time. I have some interesting childhood memories of rainy days.... ReplyDeleteDuring rainy season black clouds were sailing across the sky. Sometimes cool breeze was blowing. It was raining most of the time with thunder and lightening. The rain drops were making various sounds which I enjoyed a lot. The rain was falling everywhere including our house roof, garden, road, field and all. Birds' criping sound from tree branches was very pleasant. Sometimes due to heavy rain water was flowing on road and I used to float paper boats with my friends on that flowing water . While going to school I was always taking umbrella, rain-dress with me. Mother Earth looks like a beautiful bride wearing green saree. Well, river, pond everything filled with water and people had abudance of water during rainy days. Our garden plants were filled with various colourful flowers.
During rainy days the smell of wet soil I loved most. We were celebrating many festivals in this season among them our "Raja" festival is very popular and famous .
I enjoyed rain in childhood.When the rain falls on the ground,the smell is amazing,and I love the smell.

ReplyDeleteBirds creeping sounds of trees branches has very pleasant. Some due to heavy rain water was flowing on road and I used floats paper boat. While going to school. I was always taking rain dress with earth.
Yes;I remember on that very day,
ReplyDelete1st period was math.&I had n't finished myhome work.I intentionally
dropped my self into water&get wet.
Reached late of 20minutes at school.
Our math teacher noticed me &my
intention.Again I was punished for
2 period kneel down.I cannot forget
that rainy day.
Rain is automatic fall of water droplets from the sky to the earth. It is the best time to enjoy when the class continue and the rain is also continue. I enjoy in my childhood many times.
ReplyDeleteIn my childhood and also now I always love rain.In my childhood when rain came I went outside.To the field. Enjoy the rain.Now adays I also doing these things.In my school days we used to go to field with a football when it was raining.play didn't stopped till the evening.Sometimes parents beat me severely.But inthe next rainy day I forgot it and went to play in the rain.But it's true that my son don't go to rain thinking that he may fell ill.

ReplyDeleteSpecially in rainy season, I love to wet my hands with tiny raindrops and enjoy cool air. Whenever I look towards the trees I feel like they told me that, I am satisfied with this rain. You also come and enjoy it.
Iam delighting to share my rainy day experience.rainy day was very painful for me most of the time. roads were wet, muddy and slippery. sometimes I fell on the road when I was going to school or anywhere.the muddrops were on my backside when I was wearing my slippers.problem for defecation and bathing.l felt happy when we floating paper boat, listen sound of rain drops, looking at green field etc.

The rain was falling everywhere on houseroof, field, garden and road etc. Due to heavy rain when the rain water flowing like a drain then I used to flow paper boat. Farmer felt very happy and rushed towards their field by singing to start their gaming...

ReplyDeleteRainy season is one of the beauty in Wich the earth gives us a viewpoint to observe things under the influence of water .The smell of soil ,wearing of light woolen clothes to not feel cold,the snacks like fritters,pakoras etc make the atmosphere vibrant.I enjoyed every bit of it.Rather I just use to go outside and enjoy the splashing of rainwater.Even catching frogs toads were amazing experience.Seeing the farmers happy in my village made me more happy. The entire eath seems to paint in green color.

ReplyDeleteIt sends me back to the colorful and joyful life of those Rainy Days, when we used to play indoor games like Chhakka, Kaudi, Bagh-Chhel having crispy mustard and dry berries.
Memories of red color Bugs (Sadhaba Bohu), sailing Paper boats, dancing seeing the Rainbow, the thrilling sounds of Droplets and the freaking sounds of Thunderstorms, tragic scene of Flood and working scene of Farmers set an eye-catching happiness in my heart.
Rainy season memories are something different that I experienced.The flood scene of the river till now in my eyes.The paper boats are most interesting toys for children those days.
